Meerut (Uttar Pradesh): In a major crackdown on counterfeit goods, the police in Meerut raided a factory illegally manufacturing and selling fake musical instruments under the trademark of the world-renowned Nadir Ali & Company. The raid was conducted in the Jali Kothi area under the Dehli Gate police station jurisdiction, resulting in the seizure of duplicate instruments worth lakhs of rupees and important legal documents.
How the Racket Was Uncovered?
The fraud came to light after distributors from Kerala filed complaints with Nadir Ali & Co., stating that their instruments were being sold in the market at significantly lower prices by other dealers. Customers were frequently questioning why the authorized distributors were charging higher rates for the same branded products.
Taking these complaints seriously, the company management (including clerk Pradeep Joshi) conducted a discreet investigation. To their shock, they discovered that right in their neighborhood in Jali Kothi, a firm named ‘Ali Nadir & Company’ was running a secret manufacturing unit. The unit was producing fake Euphoniums, Trumpets, and Clarinets and stamping them with counterfeit seals of ‘Nadir Ali & Co.’ before supplying them across India.
Exploiting a 100-Year-Old Brand Legacy
Established in 1925, Nadir Ali & Company is globally acclaimed for its brass band instruments, enjoying high demand both nationally and internationally. Taking advantage of the brand’s immense goodwill and long waiting lists, Rahil Farhat registered a company named ‘Ali Nadir & Company’ three years ago. Under the guise of this firm, he secretly manufactured clone instruments and stamped them with fake Nadir Ali branding, reportedly earning crores over the past few years.
Police Action and Seizure
Upon receiving formal information, CO Kotwali Ashutosh Kumar, along with the Station House Officers (SHOs) of Dehli Gate and City Kotwali, conducted a joint raid on the warehouse, office, and showroom of ‘Ali Nadir & Company’.
During the search, officers recovered a massive cache of duplicate brass instruments, including Euphoniums, Trumpets, Clarinets, and Drums, all bearing forged stamps of Nadir Ali & Co.
Official Statement by Police
During the raid, the factory owner, Rahil Farhat, attempted to intimidate the police officials, but was immediately sternly reprimanded.
CO Kotwali Ashutosh Kumar stated: “A raid was conducted based on specific intelligence regarding the manufacture of duplicate products violating the Copyright Act. Counterfeit goods worth lakhs and several crucial documents have been taken into custody. Owner Rahil Farhat is being interrogated, and strict legal action will be taken against those involved in this illicit operation.”
मेरठ में नकली बैंड-बाजा बनाने की फैक्ट्री का पर्दाफाश: प्रसिद्ध ‘नादिर अली’ के नाम पर चल रहा था करोड़ों का फर्जीवाड़ा
मेरठ (उत्तर प्रदेश): देश ही नहीं बल्कि विदेशों में भी बैंड-बाजा और ब्रास म्यूजिकल इंस्ट्रूमेंट्स बनाने के लिए विख्यात ‘नादिर अली एंड कंपनी’ (Nadir Ali & Co.) के नाम का गलत फायदा उठाकर नकली सामान बनाने और बेचने वाले गिरोह पर पुलिस ने शिकंजा कसा है। मेरठ के थाना देहली गेट क्षेत्र अंतर्गत जली कोठी इलाके में पुलिस ने एक बड़ी कार्रवाई करते हुए फर्जी फैक्ट्री पर छापा मारा और लाखों रुपये का डुप्लीकेट सामान जब्त किया।
केरल के डिस्ट्रीब्यूटर्स की शिकायत पर बिछाया गया जाल
इस पूरे फर्जीवाड़े का खुलासा तब हुआ जब केरल के डिस्ट्रीब्यूटर्स ने नादिर अली एंड कंपनी से शिकायत की। डिस्ट्रीब्यूटर्स ने बताया कि बाजार में उनके ओरिजिनल इंस्ट्रूमेंट्स से काफी कम दामों पर वही सामान बेचा जा रहा है। ग्राहकों का कहना था कि अन्य दुकानदार उनसे कम कीमत में वही ब्रांडेड इंस्ट्रूमेंट दे रहे हैं।
लगातार घटती बिक्री और शिकायत को गंभीरता से लेते हुए नादिर अली एंड कंपनी (जिसके क्लर्क प्रदीप जोशी हैं) ने अपने स्तर पर जांच-पड़ताल की। जांच में चौंकाने वाला सच सामने आया—कंपनी के ठीक पड़ोस में ही ‘अली नादिर एंड कंपनी’ नाम से फर्जी फैक्ट्री चलाई जा रही थी, जहाँ नकली यूफोनियम, ट्रंपेट और क्लारनेट तैयार कर नादिर अली एंड कंपनी की जाली मुहर लगाकर बाजार में खपाया जा रहा था।
3 साल पहले बनाई गई थी फर्जी कंपनी
गौरतलब है कि सन 1925 में मेरठ के जली कोठी इलाके में रजिस्टर्ड हुई नादिर अली एंड कंपनी के वाद्य यंत्रों की देश-विदेश में भारी मांग रहती है और यहाँ के सामान की लंबी वेटिंग लिस्ट चलती है। इसी साख का फायदा उठाने के लिए करीब तीन साल पहले राहिल फरहत नामक व्यक्ति ने ‘अली नादिर एंड कंपनी’ नाम से एक फर्म रजिस्टर्ड कराई। नाम में थोड़ा बदलाव करके इसकी आड़ में गुप्त रूप से असली कंपनी की नकली मुहर लगाकर करोड़ों रुपये का डुप्लीकेट माल बेचा जा रहा था।
पुलिस की छापेमारी में लाखों का डुप्लीकेट सामान बरामद
मामले की सूचना तुरंत देहली गेट थाना पुलिस को दी गई। इसके बाद सीओ कोतवाली आशुतोष कुमार, देहली गेट इंस्पेक्टर और शहर कोतवाली इंस्पेक्टर के साथ पुलिस बल ने जली कोठी स्थित अली नादिर एंड कंपनी के गोदाम, ऑफिस और शोरूम पर एक साथ छापेमारी की।
छापेमारी के दौरान मौके से बड़ी संख्या में जाली मुहर लगे यूफोनियम, ट्रंपेट, क्लारनेट और ड्रम बरामद किए गए। गोदाम में भारी मात्रा में डुप्लीकेट माल देखकर पुलिस अधिकारी भी हैरान रह गए।
पुलिस और प्रशासन का बयान
छापेमारी के दौरान आरोपी मालिक राहिल फरहत ने पुलिस पर अपना रौब दिखाने की कोशिश की, जिसे पुलिस ने मौके पर ही हड़का दिया।
सीओ कोतवाली आशुतोष कुमार ने बताया: “कॉपीराइट एक्ट के उल्लंघन और नकली सामान बनाने की सूचना पर यह छापेमारी की गई है। मौके से लाखों रुपये का डुप्लीकेट सामान और कई महत्वपूर्ण दस्तावेज कब्जे में लिए गए हैं। आरोपी राहिल फरहत से सख्ती से पूछताछ की जा रही है और इस फर्जीवाड़े में शामिल लोगों के खिलाफ सख्त कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।”
